This report contains selected papers on various aspects of criminology presented at the conference on Challenges of Slovenian Criminology held in 2002.
In cooperation with the College of Police and Security Studies, the Institute of Criminology at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Society of Criminal Law and Criminology the 2002 national criminological conference on Challenges of Slovenian Criminology was held in Slovenia. This report contains selected papers presented at the conference on Slovenian criminology. These include several papers written by foreign colleagues, such as Croatia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina. The papers are divided into sections: (1) plenaries; (2) roundtables on abuse of human rights in police practice, media portrayal of crime and criminals, and the increasing prison population; (3) criminological theory and research; (3) criminology and social problems; (4) policing and criminal investigation; (5) criminal law and criminology; (6) victims of crime; and (7) corrections. The areas covered by these selected papers include topics, such as crime policy, youth and violence, forensic psychiatry, delinquent behavior, domestic violence, social welfare and criminality, economic crime, criminal legislation, crime victims, criminology in penology, prison sentences, and treatment of inmates.
