Overall, 12 of the lots were in full compliance with the standard for minimum operating requirements. None was in full compliance with labeling requirements, although 10 were found to satisfy the intent of the requirement. Many manufacturers offer options to their basic transceiver models that require additional power. Consequently, additional tests of service life under increased drain conditions were conducted for information purposes. Battery data and test results are detailed. It is suggested that the reader carefully review these results prior to selecting batteries for departmental use. Manufacturers' concerns about the testing are summarized.
