NIJ supports rigorous applied research on evidence-based tools, protocols, and policies for State, tribal, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies that address drug trafficking, drug markets, and drug-related violence. The research focus of this solicitation is criminal investigation, prosecution, drug intelligence, and community surveillance relevant to narcotics law enforcement, forensic science, and/or medicolegal death investigation. DOJ has identified the FY2019 solicitation drug priorities as: 1) fentanyl and its illicit analogues, 2) methamphetamine, and 3) illegal marijuana markets.
