NIJ is seeking applications for funding to evaluate tracking devices currently used to monitor the location of offenders under community supervision or devices used to monitor staff and detainees in correctional institutions. NIJ is also seeking applications for funding research and development of new and improved alternatives to the devices currently used to monitor the location of offenders under community supervision that provide one or more of the following capabilities:
- More accurate and timely location of individuals under supervision than is provided by current devices. A less noticeable design than current devices.
- Detection and instant notification of deliberate efforts to interfere with a device’s signal, or efforts to generate false signals.
