Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $160,720)
This agreement is established under the 2020 NIJ-NSF Memorandum of Understanding for identifying and supporting forensic science relevant research and education activities. It provides NIJ co-funding for Year 5 of the two existing NSF Center for Advanced Research in Forensic Science (CARFS) awards to Florida International University and the University of South Alabama. NIJ and NSF have shared the administrative costs of this, the only Industry/University Cooperative Research Center dedicated to forensic science research. This IAA continues NIJ's support for the center.
