Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $498,265)

This proposal will link extensive administrative data from the North Carolina public school system available through the North Carolina Education Research Data Center (NCERDC) with publicly available data from the North Carolina adult criminal justice system to create a unique dataset.

With this dataset researchers will be able to examine the link between schools, levels of in-school violence, and adult justice system involvement. The matched administrative data allows the applicant to study the impact of school policies on school safety and on long term prison outcomes.

This project contains a research and/or development component, as defined in the applicable law, and complies with Part 200 Uniform Requirements – 2 CFR 200.210(a) (14). ca/ncf
