Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2016, $438,161)
This effort intends to create a distributable, accessible, low-cost, and efficient means for law enforcement to collect digital evidence from victim or witness-owned mobile devices voluntarily and discriminately. Native Android and iOS applications will be developed to enable simple, efficient, remote, and less-intrusive approaches to collection. This overall effort will be accomplished in nine months, with a two-phased approach. Phase One will leverage rapid prototyping and experimentation to determine best approaches, limitations of platforms, and development of basic capabilities that will support a majority of collection needs. Phase Two will focus on preparing apps and services for an in-field pilot, allowing citizens to use and contribute evidence using apps downloaded and installed by victims and witnesses. ca/ncf
