Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $500,000)
This program furthers the Department's mission by providing grants and cooperative agreements for research and evaluation activities to organizations that OJJDP designates.
To identify the most pressing research-to-practice gaps and the most relevant research, the Urban Institute will review recently funded OJJDP projects, conduct key informant interviews with research, practitioner, and training/technical assistance experts and convene a cross-disciplinary roundtable. The Urban Institute proposes four core deliverables: (1) a practitioner-oriented brief synthesizing key findings from the data collection activities (described above); (2) a taxonomy of the most promising research studies for translation; (3) an interactive, web-based toolkit for practitioners; and (4) an additional, innovative web-based product developed in coordination with OJJDP. Dissemination will leverage existing platforms and coordinate across existing training, technical assistance and dissemination providers and delivery mechanisms including the National Training and Technical Assistance Center and PerformWell websites. Dissemination will be anchored by two well-publicized webinars, which includes an accompanying social media strategy featuring live Tweets to facilitate immediate dissemination and practitioner engagement.
Note: This project contains a research and/or development component, as defined in applicable law.
