Goals: The State plan is to attain a turnaround time of less than 45 days for 90% of submissions, reduce backlogs, and improve the quality of forensic services. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency will continue to meet their 48-hour turn around time in the Trace Chemistry Section. Objective: 1. To improve the quality and timeliness of forensic analysis through equipment upgrades Project plan: 1. Procure, install, and validate upgraded equipment Methods:1. Will improve quality and turnaround time a the Indiana State Police Laboratory through the purchase of two super glue chambers, and Biometric Connect. The superglue chambers are needed to replace one with problematic controls and locks. The Biometric Connect will ensure detailed exemplars are received from archive and directly imported into case notes.2. To improve quality and turnaround time in the Firearms Unit, three ultra-sonic cleaners will be purchased for each regional laboratory. 3. To improve quality and turnaround time in the Forensic Document Unit, two light source boxes will be purchased. 4. To assist with an increase in efficiency for the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, Trace Chemistry Section. Purchase an updated Gas Chromatograph System to determine BAC.
