Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $1,996,464)
This award was competitively made in response to a proposal submitted by the RAND Corporation to a National Institute of Justice FY 2014 solicitation: "FY2014 National Law Enforcement Corrections and Technology Center (NLECTC) System Small, Rural, Tribal and Border (SRTB) Regional Center". The purpose of this award is to implement a new, research-based model in order to accomplish the Center's mission. RAND Corporation has structured the SRTB Center around four research foci with discrete tasks that may contain several subtasks that contribute to the overall mission of the Regional Center: (1) Identify the unique operational needs of SRTB justice systems; (2) Identify potential, innovative technology-based solutions to meet those needs; (3) Conduct trials to evaluate the impact of those solutions on criminal justice policy and practice in representative agencies; and (4) Effectively disseminate the results of those evaluations to inform policy and practice in SRTB justice systems across the US. ca/ncf
