Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $380,397)
StarChase will perform product improvement to its Pursuit Mitigation Technology that supports law enforcement and criminal justice agencies reduce or control vehicle pursuit situations. The mitigation technology will allow an officer to launch and affix, a less-lethal GPS tracking tag from a patrol vehicle to a suspect vehicle using voice commands. Once affixed, the tag then broadcasts secure Web-based, real-time position mapping data to dispatch. The ability to tag a vehicle prior to, or in the earliest stages of a pursuit offers a tactical change in policing. Once tagged the pursued vehicle usually slows to a safer speed as there is no longer a police vehicle in pursuit.
