Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $1,999,731)
This project will establish and operate the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center's (NLECTC) Electronic Crime Center of Excellence (COE). This project will identify technology and operations requirements; support NIJs research and development programs; conduct and publish a study based on empirical data to comprehensively identify the impact of electronic crime and digital evidence on State and local law enforcement; Conduct and publish a study based on empirical data on the total number of cell phones in use which may become evidence in an investigation and develop a corresponding acquisition and analysis solution for each cell phone; test, evaluate and demonstrate technologies; support the adoption of new technology develope technology guidelines; and provide technology assistance & support to criminal justice on a national basis.
