Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $687,448)
This grant is to help alleviate the backlog and improve access to DNA testing in non-capital cases involving murder, forcible rape, and non-negligent manslaughter. The funds will be provided to the Downstate Illinois Innocence Project to review cases determined to involve DNA evidence and arrange for DNA testing through private labs where this appears to be crucial to verifying a claim of actual innocence.
