Researchers propose to perform evaluations of several novel non-destructive DNA collection tools for their ability to effectively detect and collect various biological samples off of a wide range of substrates during determined time points in a non-destructive manner: the Electrostatic Detection Apparatus (ESDA); Alternative Swab matrices (Nylon Flock Swab, Foam swabs, cellulose acetate); Adhesive Evidence Lifters (water-soluble tape, gelatin lifters, and Bode's tape: common acrylic latex caulking with a low-tack craft adhesive); and various microfiber blends.
