Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $999,825)
This project will complete the development of a procedure for the repair of heavily damaged forensic DNA samples. The researchers propose to take a working double strand DNA break repair reaction and reduce it to practice in forensic DNA analysis. A major goal is to greatly expand the range of degraded DNA samples that can be subjected to standard forensic STR genotyping.
