Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $334,061)
The Milwaukee Police Department proposes to identify, review, and prioritize the existing evidence in approximately one hundred (100) of these cold case homicides. From this analysis, it will be determined what evidence is suitable for retesting. Cold Case Detectives work closely with the Wisconsin Regional Crime Laboratory who provides DNA testing for these investigations. In cases where a suspect DNA profile is developed or matches with an offender in the CODIS National Database, the case will be considered open and active and will be investigated immediately by Detectives in the Cold Case Unit.
