Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $389,200)
The Salt Lake City Police Department has already evaluated cold case homicides and have identified 124 that may yield biological evidence. This proposal requests funding to partner with Sorenson Forensics to further review the evidence in 100 of these cases for the possibility of DNA evidence. The remaining 24 cases will be handles by the state crime laboratory which will have less of an impact on their current backlog.
