Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $5,000,000)
MUFSC proposes to serve as a national resource responding to new challenges and developing needs of state and local forensic crime laboratories. Work will continue to expand the center's role as a model working forensic laboratory in support of the forensic community in conjunction with National Institute of Justice objectives. MUFSC has the capacity to quickly respond to the needs of the forensic community and new challenges in a timely and focused manner. Changes in national and state priorities, new technologies and requirements of the courts will continue to shape the direction of the Center. MUFSC will provide assistance to forensic crime laboratories by utilizing its high-throughput DNA lab in technology transfer, R&D, testing and evaluation, and model training. NCA/NCF
