Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $924,648)
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety Forensic Laboratory, the New Mexico Sentencing Commission, and the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Law Innocence and Justice Project seek NIJ funding to help defray the costs of reviewing post-conviction cases of rape, murder, and non-negligent manslaughter in which actual innocence might be demonstrated, and the costs of locating and analyzing biological evidence associated with those cases.
