Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2009, $243,368)
The focus of this project is to evaluate a new approach to overcome current technical limitations of short tandem repeat (STR) analysis and effectively resolve individual STR profiles from mixed DNA and low-copy number samples. The experimental strategy utilizes a method called emulsion PCR followed by a powerful Next Generation DNA Sequencing method. These innovations will improve the analysis of forensic DNA samples.
