The Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) proposes to continue the efforts of its Cold Case Squad to eliminate the backlog of 106 cold case homicides dating back to 1975. The Miami Beach Police Department will put in place several concurrent goals to increase solvability of the backlog of homicide cold cases, identify possible links to other homicides within and outside of their jurisdiction. Based on identified best practices, this cold case squad would be supplemented by a part time cold case multidisciplinary 'team' that will collaborate on the evaluation of cases.
