Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $167,371)
This project will develop a new latent fingerprint treatment that will reduce or eliminate law enforcement personnel exposure to hazardous materials during latent fingerprint collection. The proposed fingerprint development technique will involve non-toxic, non-irritating, cost-effective chemicals for instantaneous ridge visualization. The results will be high-resolution fingerprint ridge detail for comparison purposes requiring minimal pre- and post-treatment requirements and capable of providing prints on porous or non-porous surfaces.
