Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $500,000)

The purpose of these funds will be used to pay for Riverside Police Department (RPD) part-time investigative staff, overtime (OT) for property specialist, OT to the CA DOJ Bureau of Forensic Services Laboratory and out sourcing DNA analysis to a private laboratory. Two private, accredited, fee-for-service laboratories that meet required outsourcing standards will be chosen. Laboratory review and qualification determination will involve a collaborative selection process to involve the California DOJ Criminalistic Laboratory Division and the Riverside County District Attorney's Office (RCDA) and will be supported by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Riverside, the California DOJ and selected vendor(s).
