Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $392,714)
A treatise will be developed to document the basis and ability of physical scale modeling for the accurate portrayal of fire growth. Both direct physical scale modeling using fire and smoke, as well as analog scaling that uses salt water to simulate smoke movement are addressed. Establishing effective fire modeling techniques will help to reduce the amount of time spent on analysis of evidence. More efficient evidence processing will lead to a reduction of case backlog.
