Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $170,643)
The goal of this project is to study several genes that exhibit tissue specific expression in the forensically relevant body fluids, semen, blood and saliva, to determine if there are detectable differences in methylation that account for the differential expression. This work will result in the development of a streamlined, automatable, reasonably priced technique for the identification of body fluids prior to DNA analysis. Information regarding the body fluid source of the DNA evidence will expedite the overall DNA analysis process. ca/ncf
