Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $231,258)
The objective of this research project is to improve standard geophysical detection methods used to search for buried bodies from forensic contexts. This project will entail constructing eight control graves with six of those graves containing pig cadavers that will serve as proxies for human bodies. By improving detection technology, buried human remains will be more accurately uncovered and efficiently processed, thereby reducing case backlog.
