Optical trapping is an established scientific technique which has been widely applied in the field of cell biology to manipulate cells. This project will demonstrate the feasibility of Holographic Optical Trapping (HOT) as an automated means for separating sperm from epithelial cells in a forensic sexual assault sample, potentially achieving a very high purity sperm sample. ca/ncf
