Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $514,249)
The NERFI at the University of Albany is an innovative organization that addresses the current high demand for trained professionals in forensic labs while simultaneously fostering the research required to improve the speed, accuracy, and effectiveness of future forensic analyses. NERFI will provide forensic education, testing/evaluation and forensic science training to the community. The projects funded under this proposal include: forensic academy (NYSFA), forensic science judicial/prosecutors awareness program (FSJPAP), financial market regulation laboratory to combat white collar crime, chat minder: a safe internet tool for parents, and cyber crime partnership (CCP).
