Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $600,000)
This project will be to carry out several geospatial tasks for the FY08 year. It will consist of six tasks. The first will be to support two Technical Working Groups (TWG) and a Focus Group. The second task will be to carry out a pilot study on CrimeStat III to evaluate the efficacy of the software program to improve on the software. The third task will be to carry out a pilot of Crime Series Analysis to evaluate several methods for forecasting crime events and locations of offenders. The fourth task will be provide assistance to First Adopters for GIS for Crime Mapping. The fifth task will be to test and evaluate the addition of crime data into an Urban Growth Simulator to better understand how crime patterns change as a result of urban development patterns and scenarios. The sixth, and final, task will be to host a set of web pages for the CrimeMap listserv and extensions to the MAPS Program web site.
