Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2006, $257,638)
The IACP intends to conduct an investigation of the unexpected deaths in-custody subsequent to the use of ECW. The IACP will coordinate and facilitate the work of research teams investigating use of force outcomes where ECW was ruled as contributory or unable to be ruled out as the cause of death. Based on findings from these investigations, they will be able to determine what information is necessary to develop a standardized format for documenting findings, including the construction of relevant timelines and medical intervention protocols subsequent to death in-custody.
