The proposed project will conduct research into the development of improved lightweight armor materials. It will compare consolidated submicron materials of B4C, SiC and Al2O3 against similar micron sized commercial materials to demonstrate the expected improvement in ballistic performance of the submicron counterpart over that of the larger grain size ceramics.
