National Center for Forensic Science

The purpose of this proposal is to fund the National Center for Forensic Science's (NCFS) biological science, physical science, digital evidence and outreach projects as follows: (1) Continue the Compilation and Management of a Comprehensive US Y-STR Reference Database; (2) Continue Development of a Forensic DNA Sourcebook; (3) DNA Profiling of the Semen Donor in Extended Interval Post-Coital Samples;
(4) Optimization, Testing and Validation of Novel-DNA Technology; (5) Implementation of a Searchable Ignitable Liquids Database tool for the Fire Debris Analysis Community; (6) Development of a National Transferable Fiber Census; (7) Testing and Evaluation of Honey Bees as a Controlled Biological System for the Location of Human Remains and Illicit Drug Manufacturing Facilities; (8) Virtual Digital Evidence Research and Reference Laboratory; (9) Continue to Develop the Digital Evidence Mark-Up Language (DEML) ' A Plug-in to Global JXDM; (10) Digital Evidence Certification; (11) Focus Group on Using Technology to Assist Medical Examiners and Coroners in the Identification of Human Remains; and the (12)TWGFEX ' Needs Assessment for the Fire Debris and Explosives Community.
