Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $2,884,930)
These funds to the Aerospace Corporation are for the continued operations and maintenance of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center-West (NLECTC-West). This center will support the Office of Science and Technology research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) process by assisting in the identification of technology needs and operational requirements; testing, demonstrating, and evaluating new technologies emerging from the OS&T R&D cycle; and providing capacity building and technology assistance to the public safety community. The principal technology focus of the NLECTC-West will be less-lethal and pursuit management activities. NLECTC-West will serve as the Technology Coordinator for the Technology Working Groups for those technology areas as well.
