Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $2,712,601)
The focus of the Office of Law Enforcement Technology Commercialization's (OLETC) efforts is providing assistance to its clients through the defined priorities of the nationally developed Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Advisory Council (LECTAC). Coupled with a requirements definition from the National Institute of Justice, OLETC seeks new and emerging technologies with applications to these national priorities.
The mission of OLETC is to assist technologists and entrepreneurs in commercializing their technologies. At present time, there have been a total of 27 technologies commercialized within the past five years. As well, over 100 technologists and entrepreneurs are receiving assistance from OLETC at this time.
OLETC reached a significant milestone last May when the office recorded its 25th commercialization success. These successes are lifesaving technologies and are the direct result of OLETC's ongoing commitment to its mission: a mission of assisting in providing law enforcement and corrections professionals with a safe and more effective environment in which to conduct their daily operations.
