Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS) will implement the GPS'PSAN (GPS Public Safety Alert and Notification System) supported by cellular/PCS wireless technology. GPS-PSAN facilitates the delivery of information to enable the performance of mission-critical duties to any location. ARJIS, in a partnership with Qualcomm, will develop an innovative wireless regional system based on existing commercial CDMA cellular/PCS infrastructure to provide enhanced access to critical information in the field to police and justice officers. The advanced research and development will focus on geo-location services and high speed data capabilities of CDMA cellular. The system will be developed in phases, beginning with a test bed of the geo-location capability in San Diego County.
