Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2005, $20,000)
The goal of this study is to explore the causal effects of exposure to intimate partner violence, and to identify the theoretical perspectives that best explain any identified effects. Three major policy issues will be relevant to these results: the criminalization of exposure to intimate partner violence; funding for interventions that focus on children exposed to intimate parnter violence, and the concept of in-house treatment for victims of battering and outpatient treatment for batterers. The project will use longitudinal data taken from the Project on Human Development in Chicago Neighborhoods.
