The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division proposes to extend the integration of hardware and software for the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), to convert the existing AFIS database, and to integrate appropriate interfaces for the computerized criminal histories and the FBI. This project will also incorporate two-digit identity verification at detention and prison sites to prevent the unauthorized release of prisoners; the processing of palm impressions; and the electronic receipt of fingerprint flats from applicants requiring a national record check.
