Project Summary for 2003-RG-CX-K101
This grant will continue the demonstration program for law enforcement officers to field-test a portable hand-held digital fingerprint and photo device compatible with NCIC 2000. The hand-held fingerprint and photo device will be deployed primarily with high-risk entry teams and various task forces. The primary focus is to track the operational efficiency of the system. Specific objectives include: a) understanding the communications infrastructure required to complete the transmission; determination of the value of the system based on field operation; measurement of overall operational efficiency of the system in field conditions; and completion of a field test by sending fingerprint images to NCIC 2000 and receiving name and date of birth information back to the handheld device.
