The proposed project will analyze recidivism rates for cohorts of adult felons in New York City who entered probation in 1995 and 1996, and for cohorts of misdemeanants who entered in 1997 and 1998 and who have completed their terms of probation for a total of about 15,000 probationers per cohort. They study will obtain probationer data from the New York City Department of Probation and recidivism data from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. It will determine recidivism rates for each cohort and for categories of probationers within each cohort.
