DNA analysis used in conjuntion with the CODIS is a powerful investigate tool beginning at the crime scene with the collection of evidence and ending with a judicial conclusion. For CODIS to de truly effective and DNA to reach its full potential, aiding the criminal justice system in solving crime , DNA database must be populated with both offender profilies from the crime scene evidence. DNA is especially useful in case where no suspect is know. DNA profilies obtained from evidence cllected in cases where ther is no suspect can be compared to local, State, and national DNA database through CODIS for a match between the evidence and a convicted felon.
