Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2001, $206,356)
Project Summary for 2001-IJ-CX-0015
In the first two years of this grant, the ASC developed and distributed two volumes of the peer-review journal, Criminology and Public Policy; began developing relationships with the media; and designed a website to provide a forum for ongoing discussion of important policy questions. This continuation grant supports the development, review, editorial support, production, subscription, marketing and press activities for the journal. Journal issues will be published three times this year. The Editor and editorial staff for this journal are leading scholars from various criminal justice areas. The Editor will conduct an initial review of submissions and assign them to three associate editors for blind review recommending further consideration or rejection. Editorial Board members will then review manuscripts for further consideration, determine acceptance in conjunction with the Editor and work with the author(s) to develop a final version for publication. The marketing coordinator will assist the editorial team in disseminating the research and informing the media of important studies and research. The marketing coordinator will also assist the team to administer market surveys and interviews with consumers and expand the subscription list. At the end of this final year of NIJ continuation funding, the grantee anticipates that the journal will be self-supporting.
