Note:
This awardee has received supplemental funding. This award detail page includes information about both the original award and supplemental awards.
The Tuscon Police Department (TPD), Phoenix Police Department (PPD), and the University of Arizona propose to partner in the continued research and development of current state of the art and near term future database and Internet technologies to enhance inter-agency sharing and analysis of information. This partnership will build upon the COPLINK application that was developed in an effort that began this affiliation between cutting-edge information systems research and law enforcement. With this funding the first multi-agency COPLINK Intranet will be developed and deployed, linking the Phoenix Valley and Tucson. Further development of the application will occur, including expansion of the database and interface to accommodate a richer array of available data. Concurrent with this deployment will be the continued research and development of cutting edge analysis techniques including linguistic analysis, and visualization and summarization techniques. The group also intends to pursue development of law enforcement intelligent agents for the COPLINK Database/Concept Space applications and for Internet searching.
