Project Summary for 2000-IJ-CX-K010 S-2
This award is supplement #2 to grant number 2000-IJ-CX-K010 and focuses on the completion and further extension of the development, optimization, and implementation of rapid and highly differentiating assays for mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis. In this supplement the grantee will continue their original research goals by sequencing over 1000 mtDNA samples that were not sequenced as part of the research conducted with the original award. These studies will further identify suitable mtDNA sequence differences among unrelated individuals, which will in turn increase the power of mtDNA analysis for identity determinations. Assays to detect these sequence differences will also be developed as part of this supplement.
