Project summary for 2000-FS-VX-K001
This hypothesis-based project will develop, implement and evaluate a pilot stress education program focusing on development of a personal wellness strategy for randomly selected probation and detention officers. Elements of the program will include an orientation session for new hires and their families, a wellness component (focusing on nutrition, exercise, and financial management/planning), a menu of relaxation techniques and interactive training in effective communication. Information on the natures and sources of stress will also be provided. All staff will have a mandatory individualized stress consultation upon completion of the training. Evaluation components include the collection of data and the administration of participant tests before and after the intervention.Process information will also be collected.
