The purpose of this project is to improve the newly established forensic DNA laboratory at the Insitute of Forensic Sciences to enable compliance with recent legislation requiring blood sample collection from convicted sex offenders and other felons for DNA analysis and entry into the CODIS database.Funds will be used for training in DNA Short Tandem Repeat (STR) analysis methods, intrumentation,and operation of the CODIS database, as well as necessary equipment and supplies and consultant laboratory services for assistance in the development and evaluation of data banking procedures.
