Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $472,168)
The proposed research is a formative evaluation and evaluability assessment of an intervention/deradicalization program (Parents For Peace). The goal of this effort is to determine the extent to which Parents for Peace builds upon an established evidence-base, whether the model can be evaluated, and whether the program can be replicated and scaled as a national model, should the outcome evaluation determine the program is successful. The proposed research will be carried out by:
1. Conducting a scan of practice of U.S. deradicalization programs;
2. Reviewing Parents for Peace program documents and data collected;
3. Conducting semi-structured interviews with Parents for Peace staff and stakeholders;
4. Developing a logic model of the Parents for Peace deradicalization program;
5. Drafting an implementation guide of Parents for Peace interventions;
6. Developing an outcome evaluation plan to guide the outcome evaluation;
7. Developing data collection protocols, and;
8. Implementing program data collection and providing technical assistance as needed.
