This NIJ-funded public service announcement (PSA) was used in a research project that tested the effectiveness of such announcements in improving safe-driving behavior when faced with an emergency vehicle responding to a call.
Abstract
The PSA contains the following safety message for drivers when an emergency vehicle is negotiating traffic while answering a call: "slow down; slow down and move over; when you see lights, vests, or reflectors, please give us some room; slow down and move over; when you need us, we've got your back; do you have ours?; you got our back?; you got ours?; you got our back?; please, slow down and move over; when you see lights, vests, or reflectors, slow down and move over."
