Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $288,389)
One of NIJs goals is to increase the number of scientists aware of the challenges of crime and justice, who are engaged in research to address those challenges, particularly as applied to law enforcement. The STPF offers NIJ the opportunity to accomplish that goal.
Among the goals of the AAAS program is the promotion of the responsible use of science in public policy. AAAS created the STPF program to provide opportunities to outstanding scientists and engineers to learn first-hand about policymaking, while contributing their knowledge and analytical skills to the federal policymaking process. Fellows serve yearlong assignments in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the federal government in Washington. Each year, the STPF program adds to a growing corps of over 3,000 policy- savvy leaders working across academia, government, nonprofits, and industry in order to serve the nation and the world.
