Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $146,055)
The goal of this project is to develop a new on-site confirmatory assay for the detection of bodily fluids at crime scenes. This new technology will have the capability to assist in aging biological evidence. These advances will help investigators collect items with the most evidentiary value. Overall, this new assay will help reduce the amount of samples collected at the crime scene, which helps save time, money, and effort for both investigators and the forensic science labs performing further analysis. This research project will have a positive impact on reducing evidence backlog.
