Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2010, $348,511)
First, with additional funding from the National Institute of Justice, the Forensic Anthropology Unit and DNA Missing Persons Group will complete the OCME Unknown Backlog Project. DNA typing will be performed on all tissue specimens collected from the 62 unidentified decedents in New York Citys public cemetery. All eligible DNA profiles will be uploaded to CODIS 6.0. Secondly, the Forensic Anthropology Department plans to utilize a custom created data management systme originally developed for use in mass fatality. The Unidentified Victim Identification System which will result in a single system to be used for day to day and mass disaster data management. ca/ncf
